Supporting Agroecology Transition through the Science-Policy Interfaces: Results of the Pilot Study 2024

Ivana Trkulja (ICROFS, Aarhus University, Denmark)
Allison-Marie Loconto (INRAe, France)

In 2024, partners working on Science Policy issues in the Partnership Agroecology, have jointly prepared and piloted a study with the objective to understand whether current research and sectoral policies for agroecology transition are science based and how the governance systems are currently operating. Some of the main questions were: i) Which sectoral policies are in line with agroecological principles?, ii) What are the current forms of scientific advice used by policy actors?; and iii) What are the variety of ways in which the AKIS are part of current science-policy interfaces regionally and nationally? We found that current policies do seem to include some agroecological practices, but actually do not appear to support AE transition. In order to have more relevant insights we plan to extend the study in spring of 2025.
