The “how-to” and “so what” of co-creation: findings from a systematic literature review on co-creation processes for agroecology living labs
Sara Delaney (ZALF - Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research)
In this presentation, Sara will share highlights from a recently completed systematic literature review on co-creation processes for environmental sustainability transformation. A team of researchers from the Agroecology Partnership reviewed over 5,000 articles and retained 266 studies describing multi-stakeholder, action-oriented, experimental processes; 51 agriculture- and food-focused articles were subjected to in-depth qualitative analysis. We combined bibliometric and descriptive analyses, with framework-guided qualitative coding of co-creation inputs, processes, outcomes, impacts, and evaluation practices. Sara will share the results framework which illustrates the primary enabling factors and barriers for the co-creation process and point to gaps that were not adequately addressed in the reviewed literature. The team identified a need for more frequent and transparent documentation of the experimentation process, and participatory evaluation that can capture the social connections that drive change.
Co-creation beyond slogans: the importance of farmers and community knowledge
Andrea Ferrante (Schola Campesina)
Food producers’ knowledge, know-hows, traditional seeds, risk mitigation strategies, innovation capacities, adapted farm tools, etc. are the foundation of our local food systems and a core dimension of agroecology. Still, despite good intentions from research, policies and development actors, this knowledge remains poorly engaged in agroecology conversations. Schola Campesina will present initiatives and methodologies for moving co-creation beyond slogans.
